Are you able to contact your attorney when you need to? Do you feel like he is avoiding you? How does he or she handle your phone calls or inquiries? Are you kept up to date on the status of your case? Is it an all day affair to drive to his or her office, only to wait for hour(s) before you are able to meet with someone? Are you satisfied with the service you are receiving? Did the relationship with your attorney change right after you signed the contract? If you answered yes to any of these questions then maybe you should reevaluate your situation. For those of you in the Carson, Cerritos, and surrounding communities: you now have a choice.
Clients should be able to speak with their attorney. One should be able to "drop by" if in the neighborhood. Calls should be returned promptly, and, if necessary, a meeting arranged. Copies of documents received and submitted to the government should be provided to clients without clients having to ask for them. Clients should not fear that their attorneys are too busy to speak with them. If your attorney tells you that "they are too busy working on other cases and they will get to you in turn", be careful. Be advised that even though you are the client, you are the boss. The case is yours, the file is yours, the documents submitted with the case are yours, and the results are yours. Don't let anyone tell you differently.
When Wilner & O'Reilly was in the process of determining where to locate, it became apparent to us that there was a dearth of qualified immigration lawyers in the vibrant city of Cerritos - home to many of Southern California's Filipino population. Though the area around Cerritos and Carson are well-known as home to our Filipino friends, most Pinoy seeking legal assistance for their immigration problems must commute to Los Angeles and even the valley. Contact with their LA lawyers is difficult and personal service, consultations and dropping off documents is time consuming and simply a headache.
In light of the foregoing, and with all due respect to Carson, Cerritos became our natural choice. We thought it best that we are located within the heart of the community we are committed to serving. And, "At O.K. Ang Tsibog Pinoy Dito"
