Sean Carpenter

Mr. Carpenter is an associate attorney with Wilner & O'Reilly, APLC and is the Managing Associate of the Salt Lake City, Utah office. He is admitted to the State Bar of Utah and the United States District Court for the District of Utah. Proficient in all areas of immigration law, Mr. Carpenter's current focus is on removal defense, I-9 and employer compliance, employment-based non-immigrant visas, family-based immigrant visas including I-601 Waiver petitions, and investment-based immigration.

Mr. Carpenter's experience includes work at the immigration firm Thomas & Jefferies PLLC, where he was responsible for drafting I-601 Waivers, U-Visas, and Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) applications for battered women. He also worked for the Executive Office for Immigration Review in the Eloy, Arizona immigration detention facility and Phoenix Immigration Court, working specifically to assist judges with the decision-making process, legal research and drafting decisions. As a fluent Spanish speaker, he participated in seminars at Hispanic community centers in Arizona, presenting information about immigration law, and offering free immigration advice to those who attended. Community minded, Mr. Carpenter is determined to give back. He is a regular volunteer in a pro bono legal clinic which provides immigration services for indigent clients. His specific passion is to work with children who were abused, neglected, or abandoned in the immigration process, often helping them to be adopted by a loving and caring family. Additionally, Mr. Carpenter serves on the Board of Directors for the Intermountain Relocation Council, a non-profit organization assisting businesses with all aspects of relocating their employees to the U.S. from other countries.

Mr. Carpenter received a Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University in Spanish Translation, with a minor in Business Management. He attended the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, and was a member of the Law Journal serving as an associate editor. He has authored several articles and has been published on current immigration issues. Mr. Carpenter is a member of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and actively participates in his local chapter. He is married with two children.
