Chien-Yu Wang

Chien-Yu (Michael) Wang is an associate attorney at Wilner and O’Reilly handling both family and business basses various aspects of immigration matters. Mr. Wang is admitted to the State Bar of California and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Mr. Wang graduated from the University of California, Davis with a Bachelor’s Degree in Japanese and East Asian Studies. Mr. Wang also studied at the Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Southwestern Law School graduating in the top third of his class. Michael was awarded the Public Interest Scholarship at Southwestern and was the Treasurer of the Southwestern Asian Pacific America Law Students Association. During law school, Mr. Wang worked at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA), Asian Pacific-Islander Community Outreach Unit, where he helped monolingual Chinese clients with their immigration matters. During his tenure at LAFLA, he accompanied numerous monolingual clients to USCIS interviews and Immigration Court proceedings and obtained favorable rulings. Prior to joining Wilner & O’Reilly, he also clerked at the California Department Justice working on complex anti-trust litigation matters.
Committed to public interest, Mr. Wang is an active member of the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association and the Japanese American Bar Association. He volunteers his time at many community based pro-bono legal clinics. As an immigrant from Taiwan, Mr. Wang has gained valuable personal experience with the immigration system in the United States. Mr. Wang is fluent in Mandarin, Chinese and conversant in Japanese.
